Deb and Angie give careful instruction and provide that extra one-on-one attention to one’s personal issues, i.e., low back pain, elbow tendonitis, etc. They will show you modifications to the poses so you don’t exacerbate your issues. Yoga on Main offers such a variety of classes, you’re sure to find one or more for whatever your body is calling for, whether it be a flow yoga, some restorative poses or even a cardio and toning workout. YOM makes it really easy to enjoy class! They are very accommodating and make your hour session as comfortable as you want it to be. Warm, comfy blankets, heated sandbags and scented eye pillows along with soothing music make you forget about the day and focus on your body. To just stop for a moment and focus on your breath and breathing is a great feeling! It is rejuvenating to replenish the body with much-needed oxygen. I have wanted to try yoga for years. I was always too intimidated to go because I didn’t know how to do yoga. I had tried DVDs and You Tube videos, but it’s not the same as going to a class. YOM has helped me grow my practice by teaching me the correct alignment in poses and gives encouragement to try the poses and inversions that I might not have tried on my own. Last Spring I was having difficulty fitting classes into my life and thought that my regular home practice was enough. It’s not and I was experiencing a fair amount of stress-related pain as a result. Classes—at YOM or elsewhere—keep me honest, keep me practicing asanas I don’t particularly enjoy (but that are good for me), and help me think about ways to make my practice stronger.
